| Resumo | This study concerns a comparison of two ways of obtaining data on land use for subsequent application for assessing soil loss of the municipality of Brotas (SP), through the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE). This is a highly relevant information to determining the anthropic factors of the equation, influencing directly to its results. The classification methods may lead to changes in the final results of the land use maps, and then the information generated from these. Two maps were generated for land use, the first one was obtained through classification of visual orbital image complemented by field surveys and cadastral information (location of cultivated areas from information obtained directly with companies that exploit the territory of the municipality) while the second was drawn up by supervised classification of images CBERS-2. The results show a reasonable similarity between the two procedures (Kappa Index of Agreement of 62.11% overall, considering the classes of cover down), but no longer express some difficulties inherent in the definition of hedges associated with tree size vegetation (in the case, savannah, forest, orange and eucalyptus). In the case of the use of quantitative methods of analysis, as the implementation of USLE, it was found that the methods of classification may result in some variations in outcomes, but they were overcome with some corrections. From these corrections the two methods of drawing up the map of land use produced consistent and similar results. | |||
